An expansion of his recent Lightning Talk in July, Ian King will present a longer form of his Differently Abled presentation.
DIFFERENTLY ABLED: Today, many companies test for accessibility, but for whom? This presentation considers the people for whom we create accessible software. We will also talk about why ‘the A word’ really matters.
Ian King is placed at Google in Kirkland, where he is responsible for accessibility testing of the Google Hangouts suite of products. Previous experience in software engineering includes twelve years in software test development at Microsoft. In other professional work, he helped found the Living Computer Museum in Seattle. Ian is currently pursuing a doctorate in Information Science, and is also a classical vocalist, performing duets with his teenage daughter as well as solo work.
